What We Do
By combining the energy of experts in architecture, design, environmental sustainability, and public relations, PlayGreen and The PlayGreen Initiative build green spaces and eco-friendly playgrounds in communities worldwide. The goal is simple: Children engage in healthy, physical activity and learn to appreciate and value the environment at the same time.
Teaming with corporate, municipal, and non-profit partners, The PlayGreen Initiative brings environmentally sustainable childhood development opportunities to communities worldwide at minimal and often no expense to the community.
How do we do this? Once a community is identified, we begin by working closely with community leaders to determine the unique set of needs and concerns to be addressed. Following that determination, we engage our ever growing network of public and private sponsors. It is this network that allows The PlayGreen Initiative to accomplish its mission.
Once sponsors are identified, a proposal is presented to municipal leaders. The proposal represents the cumulative work of our multidisciplinary team of design and sustainability experts -- and the active feedback of the community. Construction begins once the proposal is approved.
The playground and the green spaces are constructed in an environmentally sustainable manner -- using local suppliers, native plantings, and natural means to control water flow. This reduces pollution, runoff, and other problems associated with asphalt and more traditional playground materials. The playground equipment is made from earth friendly materials that have been recycled and can, itself, be recycled at the end of its useful life.
Throughout this process our public relations team works closely with the municipality to ensure that the project brings positive, energizing influences into the community. This unique feature of The PlayGreen Initiative model means that we are not only building a playground or adding green spaces to a town or city, but assisting in it's long-term, overall growth and development.
Our public relations team does not leave when the playgrounds and parks are finished, but stay on to work with the community. This model is especially important to challenged communities who can benefit enormously from positive images and the additional investment that these positive messages can produce.
This opportunity to reinvigorate the community is as much a part of the PlayGreen Initiative model as bringing together the values of a healthy childhood and a healthy environment.
